Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country to the nation under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,’ including the Harrawala railway station in Dehradun. Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were present on this occasion.
Redeveloped at a cost of approximately ₹19 crore, this station represents an exquisite blend of the Doon Valley’s natural beauty and Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage. Here, traditional ‘Aipan art’ has been beautifully integrated with modern passenger amenities.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that this station would provide fresh momentum to the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). He noted that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the railway sector in Uttarakhand is witnessing unprecedented development. More than 75 percent of the work on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project has been completed; this project is set to prove a game-changer for the development and tourism of the mountainous regions.
The state has received a record budget of ₹4,769 crore for railway infrastructure this year, while projects worth approximately ₹39,491 crore are currently underway. This modernization will prove to be a significant milestone in the state’s development journey.
