Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally launched the ‘State Minority Education Authority’ in Uttarakhand, effective from July 1, 2026. With this historic decision, the Madrasa Board in the state has been abolished, and a new, modern education system has been implemented. At a function held at the Chief Minister’s residence, he distributed recognition certificates to various educational institutions and presented NCERT books to students.
The Chief Minister stated that this step was taken with the aim of providing quality, modern, and value-based education to every child in the state. He clarified that this new system is not intended to interfere with the traditions of any community but rather to ensure equality and better educational opportunities for all sections of society. Children from minority communities will now be able to excel in fields such as science, computers, technology, and skill development while remaining connected to their cultural roots.
In alignment with the National Education Policy-2020, the Authority will go beyond merely granting recognition; it will also oversee teacher training, ensure transparency, and facilitate the effective implementation of inclusive education. Describing this as a major step towards ‘One Nation, One Education,’ the Chief Minister stated that the government’s goal is to prepare the state’s youth for modern-day challenges. He appealed to educationists and society at large to cooperate in making this new initiative a success.
