The Doon Police have released a comprehensive traffic plan for the upcoming Legislative Assembly session. Under this plan—which will remain in effect from April 28 until the conclusion of the session—barrier points will be established at several key locations across the city to ensure the smooth management of traffic and the maintenance of law and order. The police have also formulated a specific strategy regarding processions and demonstrations.
According to the police, barriers will be set up at Pragati Vihar, Shastri Nagar, the Bypass, Defence Colony, and the Vidhan Sabha T-junction; these locations will serve as control points for monitoring and regulating traffic flow. During the session, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be prohibited. Should the need arise—specifically if traffic congestion intensifies in the Rispana area—heavy vehicles will be halted at Lal Tappar, Harrawala, and Nayagaon.
During the Assembly session, all potential processions will be required to commence their march exclusively from the Him Palace Hotel, and the vehicles associated with these processions are to be parked at the Race Course Guru Nanak Ground. In the event that a procession departs from the Him Palace Hotel and proceeds toward the Pragati Vihar barrier, vehicles traveling from the Rispana area toward the city center will be diverted from the Haridwar Bypass toward the Old Bypass Police Post.
**Barrier Locations:**
1. Pragati Vihar Barrier
2. Shastri Nagar Barrier
3. Bypass Barrier
4. Defence Colony Barrier
5. Vidhan Sabha T-junction Barrier
**The Traffic Plan:**
– All heavy vehicles will be diverted from Kargi Chowk and Doiwala toward Dudhli Road.
– If traffic congestion becomes severe in the Rispana area, heavy vehicles will be partially halted at Lal Tappar, Harrawala, and Nayagaon.
– Vehicles traveling from Dehradun toward Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, or Chamoli will be diverted from Nehru Colony/Fawara Chowk toward Culvert No. 06.
– Traffic traveling from Dharampur Chowk toward the ISBT will be routed via Mata Mandir Road and the Old Bypass Police Post toward the ISBT.
– Vehicles traveling from the Mohkampur side toward Mussoorie will be diverted from Jogiwal onto the Ring Road, proceeding via Ladpur, the Sahastradhara Crossing, and the IT Park toward the Mussoorie Road. – Vehicles traveling from Mohkampur towards the city will be diverted towards Dharampur-EC Road via Vidhan Sabha T-point, Rispana, and Purani Bai Chowki.
– In the event of heavy traffic congestion, city buses arriving in Dehradun from Doiwala will be directed to take a U-turn at Kailash Hospital and return towards Doiwala.
