Dehradun: People’s lives have become entangled in the first 30 seconds of the screen. People are spending hours watching reels on the phone in the hope that something better will appear. Doctors are calling it Nomophobia disease in medical language. According to doctors, the dopamine neurotransmitter, which makes the brain feel good, has further increased the activities of using the phone.
After watching digital content, the reward circuit present in the brain is becoming more active. This is encouraging to watch the phone screen again and again. Dr. Jaya Navani, head of the psychiatry department of Doon Hospital, says that the dopamine hormone acts as a messenger in the body. It transmits only messages that give happiness to the mind.
The ability to concentrate is decreasing
According to the doctor, in such a situation, the level of the reward circuit of the brain increases to much higher than normal. There are three main types of reward circuits, which work differently in the brain. It mainly includes dopaminergic, serotonergic and opioid circuits.
All three types of reward circuits become highly active in such a situation. Due to its repetition for a long time, the ability to concentrate and focus is decreasing in people. Apart from this, aggression has increased in people. According to the doctor, patients with such symptoms come to the OPD every day. When they are counseled, it is revealed that they are addicted to watching the screen for hours.
