On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a program organized by the Indian Medical Association, Dehradun. Addressing the state’s doctors as the “Guardians of Health for Devbhoomi,” he paid tribute to their dedication and spirit of service. He also paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.
The Chief Minister noted that doctors in Uttarakhand are committed to public service even amidst the challenging geographical conditions of the state’s remote areas. He recalled the unprecedented contribution of healthcare warriors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting the state government’s achievements, he stated that over 62 lakh cards have been issued under the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’ in the state, and approximately 12 lakh patients have received free treatment worth more than ₹2,300 crore.
Emphasizing the government’s priorities, the Chief Minister mentioned that medical colleges, nursing institutes, and super-specialty services are being expanded across the state. Additionally, healthcare services are being extended to remote areas through telemedicine and heli-ambulance services. He affirmed that the safety and dignity of doctors remain the government’s top priority. Finally, the Chief Minister urged doctors to take care of their own health to build a healthy society and called for the creation of a strong Uttarakhand through collective efforts.
