In accordance with the directives of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Housing Department has decided to accelerate ongoing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Housing Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar assessed the progress of these projects during a high-level review meeting on Wednesday and issued strict instructions to complete the work within a stipulated timeframe.
The meeting focused specifically on external development works such as electricity supply, drinking water arrangements, and road construction. The Housing Secretary emphasized that the objective of the scheme is not merely to provide concrete houses but to offer beneficiaries a better living environment equipped with all essential civic amenities.
All executing agencies have been directed to complete pending tasks within the next 30 to 45 days. To this end, each agency has been asked to prepare a detailed action plan that must include timelines for the work and details of the officials responsible. Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stressed the need to enhance inter-departmental coordination to promptly resolve any administrative or technical hurdles. He made it clear that any laxity in the work would not be tolerated. The government aims to ensure that, through these concerted efforts, beneficiaries receive the benefit of fully equipped housing as soon as possible.
