State Congress Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana and Supriya Dhasmana, State Secretary of the Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle, met British Deputy High Commissioner Alba Smariglio at a hotel on Mussoorie Road during her two-day visit to Uttarakhand. Discussions focused on the potential for British collaboration and investment in the state’s tourism, education, healthcare, and industrial sectors.
Mr. Dhasmana briefed the Deputy High Commissioner on the state’s natural beauty, the Char Dham pilgrimage, and the immense potential for adventure tourism, as well as micro-hydropower projects. Meanwhile, highlighting the world-renowned schools in Dehradun and Mussoorie, Supriya Dhasmana emphasized the scope for joint academic programs with the British government or institutions in the fields of secondary and higher education.
Expressing gratitude for the suggestions and information provided, British Deputy High Commissioner Alba Smariglio stated that she would submit a detailed report to the British government. She acknowledged the strong potential for investment in Uttarakhand, particularly in the tourism, energy, and higher education sectors. Rajendra Singh Nagarkoti, a senior official from the Chandigarh office, also accompanied her at the meeting.
