Nainital: The Uttarakhand High Court heard a PIL filed against the appointment of dependents of ex-servicemen through outsourcing by UPNL in government departments. While hearing the case, the division bench of Chief Justice G Narendra and Justice Alok Mehra has fixed August 18 for the next hearing. Till then the court has asked all the parties to submit their replies.
According to the case, Haldwani resident Amit Kholia has filed a PIL saying that at present, outsourced employees are being appointed in government departments through UPNL. In this, only dependents of ex-servicemen are being included by UPNL. Due to which a large section of unemployed is being deprived of employment. At present, about 16 lakh educated unemployed are registered in the employment offices of the state. Ever since appointments are being made in government departments through outsourcing through UPNL, the educated unemployed registered in the employment office are being deprived of government service, which is a violation of the right to equality of the Constitution.
In the PIL, the court was requested to direct the opening of UPNL for all the unemployed. In which reservation should be fixed for the dependents of ex-servicemen. UPNL should not be limited to only a few candidates. So that the unemployed registered in the employment offices do not have to be deprived of these appointments.
At the same time, in another case, the Uttarakhand High Court heard the petitions of Doon Taxi / Bus Owners. After hearing the case, the single bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani has issued a notice to the pre-paid taxi booth operator and asked him to submit a reply. According to the case, the taxi owners of Dehradun have filed a petition in the High Court saying that in 2015, the then government had launched a scheme named Mere Budhha Mere Tirth Yatri to promote the Char Dham Yatra. Tourists from the country and abroad come to visit it. To identify them till the destination, a booth of Doon Taxi Stand was also made near the railway station, but the railway administration has currently closed it and given it on lease. Due to which local people including pilgrims are facing many problems. Tourists are not able to reach their destinations within the stipulated time. Therefore, pre-paid booths should be banned. The restriction on parking more than five taxis at a time should be lifted.
