Dehradun: 100 years after the country’s independence, scientists have come together to free India from dependence on other countries in the field of energy by the year 2047. On the second day of the Energy Future Building: Challenges and Opportunities (SAFCO) International Conference going on at the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), scientists presented its roadmap. The second day of SAFCO started with technical sessions and panel discussions. The issue of filling India’s energy basket by 2047 was discussed.
Prof. Sudhasatwa Basu of IIT Delhi gave information on energy transition, energy efficiency and future mobility. He told about energy conversion and storage devices. Professor Samira Siahrostami of Simon Fraser University, Canada highlighted the role of computational catalysis for clean energy transformation.
Discussion on the process of green hydrogen production
Prof. IISc Bangalore. Saptarishi Basu spoke on extreme combustion and low carbon emissions. Prof. Eric Van Steen of University of Cape Town South Africa highlighted the importance of liquid fuels as renewable energy sources. Dr. Bharat L. Nevalkar of BPCL spoke on the process of green hydrogen production.
After this, in the panel discussion, IIP’s senior scientist Dr. C Samant, BPCL’s DGM SK Vats presented the roadmap for the country’s energy independence by 2047. He explained how we can fulfill these needs in our country instead of the old or other countries dependent energy sources of gas and oil.
We can produce energy by making diesel and petrol from biomass here. We can also work by making diesel from used cooking oil. He emphasized on increasing the production of biofuels in addition to solar. The conference will conclude on Friday.
