A special one-day training program for school bus drivers and assistants was organized at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Dehradun. Conducted under the guidance of Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Dr. Anita Chamola, the program provided training on road safety, disaster management, and first aid to 70 drivers and assistants.
Key highlights of the training:
• First Responder Training: Harsh Pareek, an expert from the International Road Federation, provided information on the importance of the ‘Golden Hour,’ first aid, and coordination with ambulance services.
• Legal Information: Participants were made aware of Supreme Court guidelines, the Good Samaritan Law, and legal provisions related to hit-and-run cases.
• Messages from Officials: Dr. Anita Chamola described the drivers as primary guardians of children’s safety and urged them to remain disciplined and sensitive. Meanwhile, IDTR Deputy Director Rohit Kumar Sharma emphasized the importance of regular training.
The Transport Department is organizing such training programs every month to ensure safe school transportation; a total of 116 drivers and assistants have been trained so far under this initiative.
