The most important section of the Dehradun-Delhi Expressway, from Ganeshpur to Asharodi, is complete, but danger still persists. Two hills along the elevated road have repeatedly caused debris to slide onto the road. This poses a danger until these are repaired. This is why the elevated road will have to wait. However, officials claim that work is progressing rapidly and will be completed before the New Year.
On Monday, the section of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway between Akshardham and Khekra was opened, bringing relief to the public. A two-hour journey has been reduced to just 30-35 minutes. In this context, on Tuesday, the most important section of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, between Ganeshpur and Asharodi, was inspected. There are several places where the road has been built by cutting through the mountain. There are two locations where the mountain is adjacent to the mountain, but landslide protection measures have not yet been completed.
The survey revealed weak pillars, and additional protection has been provided.
The team conducted a survey during the rainy season. During the survey, the team determined that 24 pillars were at greater risk from direct impact by river water. To provide additional strength to these 24 pillars, NHAI has commissioned jacketing work. This work is also in its final stages.
A road being constructed to reach the Dat Kali Temple
Coming from Mohand, on the right side is the famous Siddhapeetha Maa Dat Kali Devi Temple. Devotees from not only Dehradun but also from Uttar Pradesh and several other states come here for darshan. Taking a U-turn can be risky for vehicles coming at high speed from Delhi. Therefore, NHAI is constructing a viaduct to reach the temple. This will allow vehicles to proceed to the temple without any obstruction or risk.
Cars will run at 100 km/h, bikes at 60 km/h.
The elevated road has been designed to allow vehicles to travel at 100 km/h. LMVs will also operate at 100 km/h. Additionally, a 60 km/h speed limit has been set for two-wheelers. Speed limit signs have been installed along the roadside.
Work on the elevated road is currently underway and will be completed soon. Safety measures are also being completed. It is expected that the elevated road will be open to the public before the New Year.
