More than 300 grievances were registered during the ‘Jan Darshan’ (Public Audience) program, held at the Rishiparna Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal. Giving a patient hearing to matters concerning land disputes, illegal encroachments, ration cards, and financial assistance, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure their time-bound resolution.
Immediate action was taken on several poignant cases during the Jan Darshan session:
โข **Elder Abuse:** Acting on a complaint filed by an elderly individual who had been evicted from their home by their son and daughter-in-law, the DM directed that a case be registered under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.
โข **Relief for Women and Widows:** The DM ordered immediate financial assistance and inquiries into the plight of a woman distressed by loan and attachment notices; Suman Pal, a widow unable to repay her e-rickshaw loan; and Mamta Rani, a divorcee struggling to obtain a ration card.
โข **Strict Action Against School:** The Chief Education Officer was tasked with conducting an inquiry against ‘Samsae Public School’ following allegations of student harassment and the refusal to issue Transfer Certificates (TCs).
โข **Illegal Encroachments and Other Issues:** Immediate reports were sought from the concerned departments regarding complaints of illegal encroachment on an irrigation channel, the operation of an illegal dairy unit, and demands for the restoration of city bus services on DL Road.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K.K. Mishra, along with numerous other administrative and departmental officials from the district, were present at the meeting.
