In the last two days of the fair, the pace of Kanwar pilgrims increased tremendously. In Dehradun, in the last phase of the Kanwar fair, SSP Ajay Singh himself came out on the road to perform his duty. When a Kanwariya fainted amid the heat and crowd, the SSP immediately took him to the hospital.
The number of Shiva devotees who left for their destinations after filling Gangajal from the holy city has crossed three crore 56 lakh. From six o’clock on Sunday evening to six o’clock on Monday evening, 55 lakh devotees left for their destinations after filling Gangajal.
According to the data of the police and administration, till now a total of more than three crore 56 lakh 90 thousand Kanwar pilgrims have left with Gangajal from Haridwar Harki Pauri and the nearby Ganga Ghats. On Monday, a huge crowd of Dak Kanwar and general Kanwar pilgrims gathered at major places including Harki Pauri, Bhimgoda, Subhash Ghat. SSP Pramod Singh Doval said that from 10 to 21 July, 3.56 crore Kanwar pilgrims have left. 55 lakh devotees returned on Monday. On Sunday, 53 lakh pilgrims left after collecting Gangajal.

SSP Doon Ajay Singh himself reached the spot along with SP Rishikesh to clear the massive jam caused by the train at Shyampur gate in Rishikesh area. SSP Ajay Singh ran towards a Kanwar pilgrim on a motorcycle who was fainting due to the jam and humidity. When his health deteriorated, the Kanwar pilgrim was immediately given first aid. An ambulance was arranged on the spot amid the jam and the Kanwar pilgrim was sent to the nearest hospital.
Shiv bhakts are covering a distance of more than 100 km in a few hours
After the Kanwar Mela reached its final stage, groups of Dak Kanwar pilgrims are returning to their destination at a fast pace. Amidst the chants of Mahadev, Shiv bhakts are now covering a distance of more than 100 km in a few hours. In the last two days, the speed of the pilgrims has increased so much that they have set a target to cover the distance from Haridwar to districts like Meerut, Shamli, Hapur and Ghaziabad in just a few hours.
Dak Kanwad is considered to be the most difficult and fast phase of the Kanwad Yatra, in which Shiv devotees reach their destination by running continuously without stopping after taking Gangajal.
This time special enthusiasm is being seen among the pilgrims. Kanwad pilgrims from Bagpat are claiming to reach 180 km from Haridwar in six hours, while some youths from Ghaziabad are claiming to reach 195 km by running in seven hours. Ghaziabad Kanwad pilgrims Ashish and Mohit said that they filled water at 8 am and will now run straight to Hindon without stopping.
Baba Bholenath has called, why delay in serving him. The target has been set to reach in seven hours. Anuj Sharma and Kapil Tyagi who came from Meerut said that every step is in the name of Baba.
Fatigue cannot even touch us. We will reach before time, but we have not fixed the time. It depends only on Bhole’s will as to when we will reach
Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Tikri in Baghpat, said that our group of five people has come. We have set a time of six hours to reach Baghpat from Haridwar. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, we will reach on time
