The public consultation campaign regarding the ‘Dehradun Master Plan-2041,’ currently being prepared by the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), is ongoing. On the tenth day of the campaign, citizens participated enthusiastically in a public hearing held at the HUDA office, Tehsil Chowk. During the event, significant issues such as city development, traffic, waterlogging, and environmental conservation were discussed in detail.
Citizens and trade organizations present at the hearing suggested expanding the road network, developing multi-level parking facilities, and strengthening public transport to address the growing traffic congestion. Additionally, there was a strong demand for concrete provisions to conserve green spaces and water bodies amidst rapid urbanization. MDDA officials recorded all suggestions and assured that every point would undergo technical and legal scrutiny.
MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stated that this master plan, formulated through public participation, would serve as the cornerstone for the planned and sustainable development of Dehradun. The Authority announced that the next public hearing for Sector-11 would be held on July 20, 2026, at the Government Girls’ Polytechnic College, Suddhowala. The MDDA has appealed to residents and stakeholders of the concerned area to participate in large numbers and share their suggestions
