Under the ‘Safe Childhood Awareness Campaign’ conducted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Dehradun, from October 26 to 31, approximately 60,000 students across various schools in the district were sensitized. These sessions, organized under the guidance of NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) and the State Legal Services Authority, were led by judicial officers.
During the sessions, students were educated on topics such as child protection, the POCSO Act, cybersecurity, identifying ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch,’ and the safe use of social media. Additionally, they were informed about the free legal aid helpline (15100), the child helpline (1098), and the cybercrime helpline (1930).
DLSA Secretary Seema Dungrakoti stated that a safe childhood is the cornerstone of a strong future. Children were encouraged to speak up against exploitation without any hesitation. The Child Welfare Committee, the police, and teachers played an active role in the campaign.
