The closure of the Mussoorie-Doon road has disrupted the supply of essential commodities to the city. Petrol and diesel have run out at the city’s petrol pumps. If the road isn’t reopened soon, the situation could worsen. Vegetables and milk are also becoming scarce in the city.
Many shops and restaurants along the Mussoorie-Doon road are running out of food. People stranded along the route are facing food and water shortages. Crowds are gathering at petrol pumps. Pump operator Neeraj Agarwal said that the District Supply Officer has reserved 3,000 liters of petrol and diesel at his pump for disaster management. Consequently, the diesel has run out. Petrol is also expected to run out soon. Other petrol pumps are also on the verge of running out of petrol and diesel.
Tourists leaving hotels to return home, stopped by police
Tourists visiting the city are also stranded. They are trying to leave their hotels to return home, but the police have set up a barrier at Chunakhala, where tourists and locals are being stopped. City Kotwal Santosh Kunwar stated that people will be allowed to proceed in small vehicles only after the valley bridge on the Mussoorie-Doon road is constructed. Cracks have also appeared on the road near Galogi. He added that complaints have been received from some people charging large sums of money to drop tourists off at Doon, and the police are keeping an eye on this matter.
