Roorkee: A case of death of two Kanwariyas under suspicious circumstances has come to light on the Kanwar Yatra route in Haridwar district. Police has identified one Kanwariya, but nothing is known about the other. The reason for the death of both the Kanwariyas is also not clear yet.
According to the information received from the police, information was received about the body of a Kanwar pilgrim being found on the Kanwar track of Solani River Park in Roorkee, after which the police reached the spot. The police did not find anything with the deceased on the basis of which he could be identified. The police took the body into custody and sent it to Civil Hospital Roorkee.
Although the police is considering the cause of death as heart attack at first sight, but is not saying anything clearly right now. The police says that the exact cause of death will be known only after the first postmortem report. On that basis, the police will investigate the matter further.
The second case is from Mangalore town area. An elderly Kanwar Yatra pilgrim died under suspicious circumstances. An elderly Kanwar Yatra pilgrim fainted on the Kanwar Yatra track going from Mangalore to Narsan late on Friday evening. He was admitted to the Community Health Center Mangalore, but his condition remained critical. In such a situation, the doctors referred the Kanwar Yatra to Civil Hospital Roorkee, where he died during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar, resident of Govindpuri Colony, New Delhi. At present, the police have kept the bodies in the mortuary of the hospital. SP Rural Shekhar Chandra Suyal said that one of the deceased Kanwar Yatra pilgrims has been identified, whose family members have been informed. Efforts are being made to identify the second deceased. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes.
