Rekha Arya, the Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development, released funds amounting to over ₹4.39 crore to eligible beneficiaries in the state under the ‘Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana’ via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This amount covers the three months of April, May, and June 2026.
Details of the distribution:
• April 2026: ₹1,47,51,000 to 4,917 beneficiaries.
• May 2026: ₹1,46,37,000 to 4,879 beneficiaries.
• June 2026: ₹1,45,44,000 to 4,848 beneficiaries.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya stated that this scheme has been operational since 2020 for destitute children who lost their guardians during the COVID-19 pandemic; under the scheme, the government provides financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month to each child. Regarding eligibility, she clarified that beneficiaries cease to be covered by the scheme upon turning 21, getting married (in the case of girls), or securing employment.
Department Director Banshilal Rana, CPO Anjana Gupta, and other officials were present on the occasion. The government’s objective is to ensure the education and sustenance of these children while also making them self-reliant.
