Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan held a high-level meeting in Dehradun to address future traffic and parking requirements. During the meeting, detailed presentations were made regarding the designs for underground parking facilities at Parade Ground and the Secretariat complex.
The Chief Secretary directed that a ‘double basement’ be constructed at Parade Ground to increase parking capacity. Emphasizing safety and ease of access, he instructed that multiple entry and exit points be created to ensure smooth vehicular movement. Additionally, he directed that Parade Ground and Gandhi Park be integrated to develop a vast ‘open-space green park,’ noting that consultation with stakeholders would be essential for this initiative.
To resolve the city’s parking issues, the Chief Secretary proposed ‘elevated parking’ on Rajpur Road and instructed the concerned officials to prepare a design and present it. This project marks a significant step towards modernizing Dehradun’s infrastructure and enhancing public amenities. The Vice-Chairman of the MDDA and other senior officials attended the meeting.
