Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami met with a delegation led by NITI Aayog member Prof. (Dr.) M. Srinivas at his official residence. A detailed discussion regarding the holistic and sustainable development of Uttarakhand took place during the meeting.
The Chief Minister emphasized that when formulating policies for a mountainous and tourism-centric state like Uttarakhand, consideration must be given not only to the permanent population but also to the ‘floating population’โcomprising tourists and pilgrims. He noted that the influx of millions of visitors places additional strain on essential services such as healthcare, drinking water, sanitation, and transport; therefore, this factor must be factored into resource allocation.
The meeting highlighted the need to strengthen healthcare services while also focusing on health education and public awareness. Prioritizing women’s empowerment and child development, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of formulating a coordinated action plan to address malnutrition and anemia. Furthermore, he underscored the need for innovation-driven policies in sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, tourism, and water conservation, tailored to the state’s unique geographical conditions. In conclusion, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the concerted efforts of the state government and NITI Aayog would impart fresh momentum to the balanced development of Uttarakhand.
