Dehradun: The Ministry of Finance of the Government of India has extended the deadline for opting for the Integrated Pension Scheme (UPS). Now eligible employees can give their option in this regard by September 30, 2025. The Finance Ministry has taken this decision in view of the demand for extension of the deadline.
The central government has given eligible employees a chance to opt in the Integrated Pension Scheme (UPS). The Finance Ministry has now extended the time limit of 3 months for this. So far, the deadline for opting was set by June 30, 2025. Now this has been increased to 30 September 2025.
The central government has decided to extend the time of option of integrated pension scheme for eligible central employees, former retired employees, legally married life partners of deceased employee. The scheme was notified by the Ministry of Finance on 24 January 2025.
This decision will benefit those employees who, for some reason, were unable to opt to avail the benefit of the integrated pension scheme even by June 30, 2025. After the extension of the time limit, now the employees who want to take advantage of this scheme for the next 3 months will be able to fill the option. It is believed that this will bring great relief to thousands of employees and pensioners.
The unified pension scheme is being run by the central government. In which the employees have the option to go. This is a guaranteed pension scheme for government employees.
