A joint team comprising the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Legal Services Authority raided the ‘Handi Restaurant’ at the prestigious Doon Club on New Survey Road and ordered its immediate closure due to serious irregularities. During the operation, conducted under the directives of FDA Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, the team discovered filthy conditions, rotten vegetables, stale rice, cockroaches, and spice packets gnawed by rats.
The inspection team oversaw the on-the-spot destruction of approximately 22 kilograms of stale and spoiled food items. Additionally, samples of paneer, milk, and chicken curry have been sent for testing. A 14-day improvement notice has been issued to the operator, with a warning that the license could be cancelled if standards are not improved within the stipulated timeframe. The Commissioner made it clear that no compromise regarding consumer health would be tolerated.
