Several significant proposals were approved during the 136th meeting of the Board of Directors, chaired by Chief Secretary and UJVN Limited Chairman Anand Bardhan. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 600 MW Ichhari Pumped Storage Project—aimed at energy storage and meeting peak demand—was sanctioned during the meeting. According to Managing Director Ajay Kumar Singh, the project is estimated to generate approximately 1,246 million units of electricity annually during peak hours, thereby reducing reliance on other states and enhancing grid stability.
Additionally, the electro-mechanical works and hydro-mechanical tenders for the 300 MW Lakhwar Multipurpose Project were given the green light. The meeting also approved ex-gratia compensation for non-pensioner personnel, the appointment of a statutory auditor for the 2026-27 financial year, and the corporation’s information and cyber security policy. Several senior officials, including the Principal Secretary (Energy), were present at the meeting.
