Dehradun:-Former minister and senior Congress leader Nav Prabhat said that injustice has been done to the scheduled castes and other backward classes in the reservation list of panchayats. He expressed strong displeasure over the increase in the seat of Scheduled Tribes in the area. The Election Department has been asked to rectify the errors in reservation.
Speaking to reporters at his residence, former minister Navprabhat said there were huge errors in the reservation list issued by the Election Department. Due to this, eligible people have been deprived of contesting elections. Raising the question, he said that if the existing reservation system has been made on the basis of the 2011 census, then on what basis has the reservation of ST, SC, OBC in gram panchayats been increased or decreded. He said that eight seats were reserved for scheduled tribes in the 2011 reservation in the gram panchayats of Vikasnagar block. Which has now been increased to 13. While seven seats of Scheduled Castes have been reduced to six. Similarly, the reservation of OBC seats has also been reduced from 11 to seven. He said that injustice has been done to the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes in the existing system of reservation. Former member of the State Minorities Commission Sanjay Jain, Congress block president Abhinav Thakur, Kunwar Pal Singh, Ashish Pundir, Vinay Jaiswal were present in the press conference.
