With the objective of ensuring that consumers have access to pure and safe food products, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has intensified its operations in the capital. Acting on the instructions of Food Safety Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, departmental teams conducted surprise inspections of 27 sweet shops and bakeries across various parts of the city.
Led by Assistant Commissioner Manish Sayana, teams comprising Senior Food Safety Officers Ramesh Singh and Sanjay Tiwari carried out inspections in Balawala, Miawala, Haridwar Road, Nehru Colony, Saharanpur Road, and Sahastradhara Road. During the inspections, the teams checked whether the manufacturing and expiry dates were marked on the trays containing loose sweets. While many shops were found to be in compliance with the regulations, some establishments in the Jogiwala and Miawala areas failed to display these dates; they were instructed to rectify this immediately. The Commissioner has made it clear that strict action will be taken against business owners who disregard the regulations.
