Dehradun: The summer vacation has made the weather of Doon sick. Carbon monoxide and PM-10, which is included in the smoke coming out of thousands of vehicles reaching Doonghati during the weekend, have become a challenge. With the increasing number of tourist vehicles in Doon, the level of PM-10 and carbon monoxide is already surpassing the standard. These two elements have increased more in the air during the summer holidays. Over the weekend, the carbon layer floating in the atmosphere is also posing a threat to health. The increasing number of vehicles in Doon is making the climate here sick. Recently, the transport department recovered a fine of about Rs two crore from 676 vehicles that caused air pollution.
Air pollution more than before
The investigation of these vehicles revealed that the smoke from most of the vehicles is increasing the level of toxic elements in the atmosphere such as carbon monoxide, PM-10, carbon dioxide, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, lead. A few months of investigation revealed that the number of vehicles in Doon during the recess has increased the air pollution. On Saturdays and Sundays included in the weekend, the pollution level is breaking the record of other days of the week.
