Preparations are on to provide free transport facility to the girls of the hills studying in the hill colleges of the state. According to Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, a proposal will be brought in the cabinet for this. According to Higher Education Director VN Khaali, preparations are on to provide transport facility to the girls so that talented girls are not deprived of higher education due to lack of facilities.
The Directorate of Higher Education has sent its proposal to the government. The state government will bear the expenses incurred in the travel of the girls studying in the colleges. This will increase the attendance of girls in the colleges and improve the quality of higher education. However, there are still more girls than boys in government colleges. Which is about 70 percent.
The government is currently giving bicycles to the girls of class IX
Girls studying in class IX in government and non-government schools are currently being given free bicycles. For this, Rs 2850 is being given in the accounts of the girls in the schools of the plains. Whereas the girls studying in the schools of the hilly areas are being given bank FD of the same amount.
There are 118 government colleges in the state. There are five state universities, 26 private universities and 118 government colleges and 244 private colleges in the state. While there are 21 aided colleges
