Ramgar: Rivers and streams are overflowing due to continuous rain in the mountains. The bus driver’s negligence in crossing the overflowing Dhangadhi drain in Ramnagar proved costly. The police took the matter seriously and registered a case against the roadways bus driver under sections of criminal negligence.
This incident is being told of 6 August, when Dhangadhi drain, located about 20 km from Ramnagar in Nainital district, which is located on National Highway 309 connecting Kumaon and Garhwal, overflowed due to heavy rains. The water level had risen so much that the traffic on the highway came to a complete halt. Meanwhile, the video went viral on social media. In which the roadways bus driver was seen risking the lives of the passengers by driving the bus into the overflowing drain.
It was clearly seen in the video that the bus got stuck in the water amid the strong current and the lives of the passengers were also at risk. In a hurry, the local administration called a JCB on the spot and pulled out the bus safely. There were about 12 to 15 passengers in the bus at that time.
SSI Manoj Nayal of Ramnagar Kotwali said that considering the incident serious, an FIR has been registered against the accused driver. He said that due to high water level in Dhangadhi drain, the police had already stopped the movement of all vehicles. This action has been taken on the basis of the complaint given by Rajiv Kumar, a policeman posted at Garjia outpost.
It has been said in the FIR that when the drain was in spate, all the vehicles were stopped at that time. Then the driver of bus number UK 07 PA 5991 ignored the warning of the police and drove the bus into the drain. The bus got stuck in the middle of the flow. Due to which the lives of the passengers were in danger. The bus was pulled out with the help of a JCB. The police have registered a case in the matter under FIR number 289/25, Section 281 and 125 Indian Justice Code (BNS). SSI Manoj Nayal said that the matter is being investigated. Further action will be taken as per the rules.
