Srinagar: The terror of leopards in Srinagar area of Pauri district is not stopping. On Tuesday morning, a leopard suddenly attacked a youth on Pauri Road ahead of Ganga Darshan area and seriously injured him. The youth was immediately admitted to the nearest hospital, where seeing his critical condition, the doctors referred him to a higher center. The injured youth has been identified as 32-year-old Sandeep Kumar, resident of Roorkee (Haridwar), who was living in Srinagar area for some time. At the same time, there is an atmosphere of panic among the local people due to the leopard attack.
Sandeep was going for defecation in the morning, when a leopard hiding in the bushes pounced on him and seriously injured him. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the local people reached the spot and immediately took the injured to the Joint Hospital Srinagar for first aid. Due to his critical condition, after first aid, the doctors referred him to the Base Hospital in Srikot, where the injured is undergoing treatment after CT scan. According to doctors, there are deep claw marks on the body of the youth and due to excessive bleeding, his condition is still critical.
Leopard attacks have happened earlier also: It is worth noting that leopard activity has been seen in this area earlier. According to local residents, leopard has attacked two people earlier also. Both the incidents happened in the evening, when people had gone out for a walk. Due to these continuous attacks, fear and anger is prevailing among the local people. People are now avoiding going alone to deserted areas. At the same time, the local people have demanded from the forest department to get rid of the terror of leopard soon.
Leopard terror has been prevailing in Srinagar for a long time. Recently, leopard had attacked and injured two different people in Ganga Darshan area, after the incident panic spread in the entire area. Local people told that both the incidents happened at the same place and almost at the same time. Local people were seen avoiding going towards Ganga Darshan area as soon as evening fell. Due to the terror of leopard, it had become difficult for children, women and elderly people to go out alone.
