State Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi held a departmental review meeting of the Rural Development Department in his camp office. During the meeting, Minister Joshi inquired about the progress of the schemes run by the department and emphasized on the effective implementation of various schemes.
The Rural Development Minister conducted a detailed review of game changer schemes like House of Himalayas, Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana and Growth Center. He instructed the officials to pay special attention to the packaging, marketing and branding of the products prepared under the House of Himalayas, so that these products can be delivered to the country as well as abroad. He instructed to connect innovative works like candle making in Mussoorie and Nainital with as many women and self-help groups as possible and to connect women with self-employment. He also asked to accelerate the development of millets-based bakery products like millets juice and other new products.
The Cabinet Minister said that empowerment of local products is necessary for rural development. He said that initiatives like House of Himalayas are a big step towards self-reliance for rural women and youth. In the meeting, the officials informed that at present a total of 49 Growth Centers are operating in the state, which are playing an important role in creating employment and promoting self-employment in the rural areas. They informed that Uttarakhand is at the forefront in making Lakhpati Didi in the country.
Additional Secretary of Rural Development Department Jharna Kamthan, Deputy Commissioner AK Rajput, Pradeep Pandey and other officials were present in the meeting
