Pithoragarh: During rainy season, mountains of problems arise. Due to heavy rains, rivers and streams are overflowing in the border district headquarters. School children are crossing the rivers risking their lives. A similar picture has emerged from Pithoragarh. Here children are seen going to school from the banks of the overflowing river.
The pedestrian path connecting Rameshwar temple in the Ghat area on the border of Pithoragarh and Champawat has not been built even after a decade. The brunt of which is being borne by school children and devotees. School children are going to school by jumping on the stones on the banks of the overflowing Saryu river, risking their lives. Also, a small mistake can cost the lives of children. GIC Duboula school of Gangolihat is located in the Ghat area, about 30 km from Pithoragarh district headquarters. Currently, more than two hundred students are studying in this school.
There are two suspension bridges in the river, there is no problem with the bridge, there is movement on the bridge. A bridge is built at a short distance from where the children are seen going in the video. A new bridge was also constructed in place of the damaged bridge in the year 2013.

Children living in Botdi, Timta, Naini, Sitola villages are also dependent on GIC Duboula for studies, but at present reaching school is no less than a challenge for the children of these villages. There is no road to connect the villages to the school. Students reach the school by walking about 3 km via Rameshwar temple. The footpath is damaged these days due to landslides caused by rain. Due to this, students of these villages are reaching the school via the river bank. Due to this, the villagers are afraid of an accident. Whose video is going viral on social media.
These days the water level of Saryu river is high. If any accident happens, the lives of children can be in danger. They have demanded the administration to repair the footpath.

Road in bad condition due to 2013 disaster: The footpath connecting Rameshwar temple in Pithoragarh district is in bad condition since 2013. Villagers say that the footpath was destroyed due to the disaster during the year 2013, after which the road has not been repaired till now. The villagers have prepared the footpath together. The road becomes in bad condition as soon as it rains. Due to which children face problems.
