The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has taken major action against illegal construction and unauthorized land plotting. The Authority demolished an illegal colony being developed on approximately 50 *bighas* of land in the Kalyanpur area of Sahaspur.
Key highlights of the action:
• Violation of norms: Landowner Zaid Rafi was carrying out illegal plotting on 50 *bighas* of land without obtaining any approval from the Authority. Plots had been demarcated on the site, and a cement concrete (CC) road had already been constructed to serve as an internal access route.
• Enforcement team’s action: Following a complaint and the discovery of irregularities during the investigation, the Authority completed the prescribed legal procedures. Subsequently, the MDDA enforcement team demolished the entire colony in the presence of a heavy police force.
• Stern message: MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari has made it clear that unplanned development will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He has instructed officials to maintain regular surveillance and take immediate, effective action against illegal activities.
• Warning to the public: The MDDA has advised citizens and prospective investors to exercise caution. Before investing in any property or colony, one must verify its legal status with the Authority to avoid future legal complications.
