On Thursday, during his visit to Assam, the State Agriculture Minister, Ganesh Joshi, inspected the tea gardens located at Barpathar in Assam. During this visit, Minister Joshi toured the tea gardens and conducted a detailed examination of their production capacity, processing systems, and marketing infrastructure.
Minister Joshi held meetings with local tea growers, exporters, and experts to solicit suggestions regarding the promotion of tea production, quality enhancement, and the strengthening of marketing mechanisms in Uttarakhand. He stated that Uttarakhand possesses immense potential for tea production and that the state’s climate is highly conducive to cultivating high-quality tea. He further added that efforts would be undertaken to give a new direction to tea production in Uttarakhand by studying the experiences and modern techniques employed by Assam’s tea industry. He emphasized that the state government is continuously striving to increase farmers’ incomes and to encourage agriculture-based self-employment. Minister Joshi affirmed that an effective marketing strategy would be formulated to establish a distinct identity for Uttarakhand’s tea in both national and international markets, thereby ensuring greater benefits for local farmers.
