The state government will support elderly women. The Women’s Empowerment and Child Development Department is conducting a survey by interacting with elderly women across the state. Following this, a draft of the scheme will be prepared and implemented in the new financial year. According to Women’s Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, the scheme will be for women from all three categories: poor, middle-income, and affluent.
So far, the Social Welfare Department has only provided old-age pensions to needy women in the state. The government is considering providing them with nutrition or other forms of assistance. Department officials say that hot cooked meals could be arranged for these women in nearby schools under the PM Nutrition Scheme.
The military-dominated state has a large number of brave women, as well as elderly women from disaster-affected areas. The government will communicate with these women and provide assistance based on their needs. This will also include ensuring that their children are taking proper care of them.
Elderly women will be honored
For the first time in the state, elderly women will be honored on International Women’s Day. According to Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, these women who have accomplished remarkable work in various fields will be honored in Dehradun.
