The administration’s campaign to remove encroachments in Haridwar has intensified. Bulldozer action was launched on Friday morning against illegal encroachments on land belonging to the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department, clearing an area of approximately one to one and a half kilometers. The administration sent a clear message, stating that, as per the instructions of the Dhami government, illegal encroachments on government and irrigation department land in the district will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jitendra Kumar, who was present at the site, said that encroachers are first given notice and warned, but strict action is taken against those who do not remove the encroachments despite the warnings. District Magistrate Mayur Dixit also stated unequivocally that encroachment on government land in Haridwar will not be tolerated. A heavy police presence was deployed during the operation to prevent any disturbances. The administration has given clear indications that similar bulldozer action against encroachments will continue in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Irrigation Department SDO Bharat Bhushan said that the encroachments, primarily temporary structures, covered an area of approximately one hectare. Notices had already been issued to the encroachers, and they were repeatedly warned through public announcements. Some people removed the encroachments themselves, while those who did not comply had their encroachments removed by the department.
