The 157th Passing Out Parade was held on Saturday at the historic Drill Square of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. On this occasion, officer cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army. The ceremony showcased pride, tradition, and military discipline.
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the parade and congratulated the cadets who had successfully completed their training. He urged the newly commissioned officers to serve the nation with loyalty and dedication, upholding the traditions of the Indian Army. He said that receiving a commission in the army marks the beginning of a life of responsibility. Addressing the cadets, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that military service is not just a job, but a duty that demands the highest sacrifice.
He said that after passing out from the academy, even though there may not be a guide at every step, a much greater responsibility will rest on their shoulders. He said that as officers, their conduct, discipline, and decisions will inspire millions. The country and society will look up to them as role models, and therefore, every action of theirs should reflect values, duty, and loyalty to the nation. He urged the cadets to uphold the values โโof service, dedication, and leadership throughout their lives.
525 Officer Cadets Commissioned
A total of 525 officer cadets from the 157th Regular Course, 46th Technical Entry Scheme, 140th Technical Graduate Course, 55th Special Commissioned Officers Course, and Territorial Army Online Entrance Exam 2023 Course were commissioned at the Passing Out Parade. Along with them, 34 foreign officer cadets from 14 friendly countries also passed out. Parents, family members, senior military officers, and distinguished guests were present at the ceremony. The parade concluded with the traditional final step.
Major Awards:
The Sword of Honour and Gold Medal were awarded to ACA Nishkal Dwivedi. The Silver Medal went to BUO Badal Yadav and the Bronze Medal to SUO Kamaljeet Singh. Officer Cadet Jadhav Sujit Sampat received the silver medal for securing first place in the Technical Graduate Course, and WCC Abhinav Mehrotra received the silver medal for securing first place in the Technical Entry Scheme 46. The silver medal for the Special Commission Officer Course was awarded to Officer Cadet Sunil Kumar Chhetri. The medal for first place in merit among foreign cadets was awarded to JUO Mohammad Safin Ashraf of Bangladesh. Imphal Company was awarded the Army Chief’s Banner for best performance in the Autumn Term 2025. With the 157th course, the Indian Military Academy has once again upheld its tradition of providing trained and capable leadership to the Indian Army.
