Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, during his Kumaon tour, visited Bhagaratola village in the Dhauladevi development block of Almora district today. Upon his arrival, local villagers warmly welcomed Minister Joshi with traditional rituals.
Agriculture Minister Joshi interacted with farmers through a chaupal (village meeting), listening to their problems, and receiving suggestions. He also conducted a field inspection of the polyhouses and took a detailed look at the situation.
Bhagartaula villagers informed the Agriculture Minister that cluster-based agriculture is being practiced in over 100 polyhouses established by the District Planning and Horticulture Department, cultivating vegetables such as potatoes, capsicum, cabbage, fenugreek, coriander, and chilies. This has increased the income of local farmers and strengthened their livelihoods. Minister Joshi commended the farmers’ efforts. He also interacted with the Lakhpati Didis of the Sam Devta group, praising their efforts towards self-employment and women’s empowerment.
The Agriculture Minister directed departmental officials to take necessary action regarding the problem of wild animal menace, fencing payments, and replacement of polyhouse sheets. During his visit to Bhagratola village, the Agriculture Minister assured farmers that the government is committed to resolving their problems and that every possible step is being taken to strengthen the agricultural sector.
During his visit, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi also visited the Nainpad tea garden and spoke with the workers there. Following this, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi visited Naini village and Tarula village to listen to the farmers’ problems and directed officials to address them. In Naini village, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi directed the preparation of an action plan for water lifting. He also distributed agricultural equipment to the farmers.
Agriculture Minister Joshi also directed officials to organize camps to disseminate all central and state government agriculture and horticulture schemes at the Nyaya Panchayat level, ensuring the benefits reach the last person. He stated that the government’s priority is to ensure timely access to better facilities, subsidies, and new technologies to every farmer.
Farmers Kheema Nand Pandey, Rebadhar Pandey, Deodar Pandey, Hari Prasad and departmental officials were present on the occasion.
