The police and the CBI team have solved the murder of retired Air Force personnel Bhagwan Singh. The murder wasn’t orchestrated by a hitchhiker, but by Bhagwan Singh’s own son. Intent on seizing his property worth crores, the son, along with two friends, plotted the entire incident and killed his father. Police have arrested all three accused, including the son. The pistol used in the murder has also been recovered at the main accused’s behest.
SSP Pramod Singh Dobal stated that late on the night of November 29th, Bhagwan Singh’s son, Yashpal, informed the control room that he was going to a wedding in Roshanabad with his father. Near the Jatwada bridge, a man asked for a lift and, as soon as they got into the car, shot him and fled. A joint investigation team from Bahadarabad police station, Ranipur police station, and the CBI was deployed. When police arrived at the scene and questioned Yashpal, he began changing his statements. He couldn’t even provide a satisfactory answer about which friend’s wedding he was attending. From here, the needle of suspicion turned towards the son.
Son broke down after several hours of interrogation, confessed to the crime.
The SSP stated that under rigorous interrogation, the son’s answers became increasingly confusing. Finally, he broke down and confessed that he, along with his two friends, had orchestrated his father’s murder. According to the police, the deceased, Bhagwan Singh, was a retired Air Force personnel and owned property worth crores. The son’s bad company and habits had led to frequent disputes between the two. The son had repeatedly pressured his father to transfer the property to his name, but the deceased flatly refused and even threatened to evict him. This grudge led the son to plot the murder.
Contract for murder was given for Rs. 30 lakh and a Scorpio
Police interrogation revealed that Yashpal had negotiated a deal with his friends, Lalit Mohan alias Rajan and Shekhar, to pay Rs. 30 lakh and a Scorpio in exchange for his father’s murder. The three conducted a recce of the canal track on the afternoon of November 29th and carried out the crime at night. At around 8 p.m., Yashpal lured his father into a car, pretending to be a friend’s wedding. His friends, Rajan and Shekhar, were already present near the barrage, just beyond the Jatwada bridge. As part of the plan, Yashpal made his father stop the car and got into the driver’s seat. Meanwhile, he introduced Rajan as his friend and made him sit in the car.
A few minutes after the car started, Rajan shot Bhagwan Singh twice in the temple with a pistol. After the incident, Rajan fled the scene. Shortly after, the son misled the police by calling 112, claiming ignorance of the incident. The accused, Yashpal, Lalit Mohan alias Rajan, and Shekhar, were apprehended. Based on Rajan’s information, the pistol used in the murder, an empty cartridge, the clothes and shoes worn at the time of the crime were recovered from his rented room.
