After agreeing to pay the fine, former MLA Champion’s car number will be saved from being blacklisted, but the driver’s driving license remains under threat from the Transport Department. The four fines issued in Uttarakhand amount to 14,000 rupees.
It should be noted that Champion’s son, Divya Pratap, and the former Chief Secretary’s son, R. Yashovardhan, had a dispute over not giving way to an overtaken driver. During the incident, Divya Pratap even assaulted R. Yashovardhan. The car involved in the incident came to light when 19 pending fines were found in various states. Four of the fines were found in Uttarakhand, amounting to 14,000 rupees.
The driver will also face a fine of up to five thousand rupees.
Recently, the Transport Department sent a notice to Champion in this matter. On November 25th, Champion, through his lawyer, responded to the notice. In the notice, he stated that he was willing to pay the fine, but his car number should not be blacklisted.
In such a situation, the car will be saved, but the driver’s license will still be in danger. Divisional Transport Officer Sandeep Saini stated that if the driver fails to produce his license, he will be suspended. An investigation is underway to determine which driver was driving the car during all the challans. The driver will also be fined up to five thousand rupees.
