Kashipur experienced the highest noise pollution during Diwali. Compared to the noise level on October 13th and 14th, it increased by 77 percent on October 20th and 21st, reaching a worrying level of 119.68 decibels. Tehri fared the best.
The Pollution Control Board began monitoring air quality from October 13th to 27th in view of Diwali. Furthermore, noise pollution levels were also monitored on October 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st in Dehradun (three), Rishikesh (three), Tehri (two), Nainital (three), Haldwani (three), Kashipur (three), Rudrapur (three), and three locations in Haridwar. The PCB has subsequently posted this information on its website. According to this report, the highest noise pollution on October 20th and 21st was in the Housing Development area of โโKashipur.
The second-highest noise level was in the Housing Development area of โโRudrapur (114.33 decibels). This area reported a 65 percent increase in noise pollution in just one week. Kashipur’s MP Chowk also ranked third, with a noise level of 113.18 decibels. The highest noise level in Dehradun was reported at Ghantaghar, while the highest noise level in Rishikesh was reported at Nataraja Chowk, Shivalik Nagar in Haridwar, and the Sheeshmahal area in Haldwani were reported to be higher than anywhere else in the city.
