Today, at the UCF Bhawan of Pradeshik Cooperative Union, Dehradun, Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat held an important review meeting with the officials, managers, general managers (GMs), district managers (DMs), and managing directors (MDs) of the lead bank, Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank. In this meeting, the progress, performance, and future plans of the bank were discussed in detail.
Branches have a target of minimum 5,000 accounts and 30 crore deposits
Dr. Rawat gave clear instructions to all bank managers that it is mandatory to open a minimum of 5,000 new accounts in each branch. Along with this, a deposit of at least Rs 30 crore should be ensured in each branch. He stressed that all branch managers should take their set targets seriously and if any manager fails to achieve these targets, strict action will be taken against them.
Online membership campaign to start from October 1
The minister announced that a comprehensive online membership campaign will be launched from October 1, 2025, under which one lakh new members will be added. The aim of this campaign is to further expand the reach of the cooperative bank.
Call for contribution in social sector
Dr. Rawat motivated the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank to fulfill social responsibility and said that the bank should actively contribute in social works like school construction. He instructed all the branches to work with interest in the social sector and ensure participation in the upliftment of the society. He said that the State Cooperative Bank should also work for ambulances in hospitals.
Appreciation of Uttarkashi and Kashipur branches
In the meeting, Uttarkashi branch manager Mr. Indrajit Singh informed that his branch has done 100 percent recovery of non-performing assets (NPA) and currently the branch is in profit of more than Rs 36 lakh. Similarly, Kashipur branch manager Mr. Manoj Bisht informed that his branch has earned profit this year and has performed better.
Displeasure over loss making branches, instructions for improvement
The minister expressed displeasure over the branches of Haridwar, Gopeshwar, Khatima, and Bajpur, which are currently running in loss. He directed to bring these branches into profit at all costs and prepare a concrete action plan for this. He said that the next review meeting will be held in Srinagar, in which all branches will have to submit their progress report. There are a total of 15 branches. Apart from four, all branches are in profit.
Instructions to reduce expenses and control NPA
Managing Director of State Cooperative Bank, Mr. Pradeep Mehrotra directed all branches to pay special attention to reducing expenses, providing secured loans, increasing deposits, and reducing NPA. He said that work should be done by making a special action plan on recovery and control of NPA.
Instructions to form a committee for new branches
Minister Dr. Rawat directed to form a committee for the transfer of those branches which are operating at inappropriate places. This committee will select suitable places and submit its report, on the basis of which necessary action will be taken.
Resolve to strengthen co-operatives
Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that hard work and dedication is required at all levels to make Uttarakhand State Co-operative Bank more strong and effective. He called upon all the officers and managers to work unitedly and set new records in the field of co-operation. Co-operative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the name of the corporate branch of the State Co-operative Bank in Dehradun should be changed, because at present it is not functioning as per the name “Corporate”.
