A team from the Election Commission of India visited Dehradun to review the progress of the Special Intensive Revision-2026. The team held a meeting with District Election Officer Dr. Ashish Chauhan and other officials to assess the work done so far.
The Commission’s team issued instructions for the impartial and transparent disposal of objections filed under Form 7. It also clarified that mandatory cross-verification with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) must be conducted before removing any names. Additionally, voters who have not submitted any of the 11 prescribed documents will be contacted again.
The District Election Officer stated that the mapping of over 11.90 lakh voters in the district has been completed, and hearings have been held for 90% of the 5.47 lakh notices issued regarding discrepancies. Voters (numbering 96,187) listed in the electoral rolls of both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are being given the optionโthrough BLOsโto choose one state for their registration.
