On the occasion of National Sports Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the Uttarakhand State Sports University (Manaskhand Sports Complex)—to be built at a cost of ₹43.50 crore at the International Stadium, Gaulapar—and inaugurated its first academic session.
The Chief Minister honored medal-winning athletes and coaches with the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna, Dronacharya, Lifetime Achievement, and Himalaya Ratna awards. Additionally, he distributed sports scholarships via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the ‘Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana’ (Chief Minister’s Emerging Player Promotion Scheme).
CM Dhami stated that the state government is committed to establishing Uttarakhand as a ‘Khelbhoomi’ (Land of Sports). A special roadmap is being prepared for the upcoming National Games and the 2036 Olympics. Initiatives such as the first girls’ sports college in Lohaghat, 23 high-tech academies, out-of-turn government jobs for athletes, and the ‘Mauli AI Application’ for fitness assessment will propel the state’s athletes to new heights.
