On June 24, 2026, a special road safety training program for school bus drivers and conductors was organized at the IDTR in Dehradun, initiated by the Transport Department and the RTO (Enforcement and Road Safety). Forty-six participants from Shivalik College of Engineering, St. Patrick’s Academy, and Social Baluni School took part in this training.
The program aimed to prioritize the safety of schoolchildren and sensitize staff members to their responsibilities. During the session, participants received practical training in defensive driving, first aid, road signs, vehicle fitness, and emergency response.
RTO (Enforcement) Dr. Anita Chamola stated that school bus staff act as guardians of children’s safety and must strictly adhere to regulations. Joint Transport Commissioner Mr. Rajiv Kumar Mehra also interacted with the drivers, explaining the importance of safe driving and discipline. To make the training engaging, a quiz competition was held, and top performers were awarded prizes. Finally, all 46 participants were honored with certificates and T-shirts. The department has urged schools to come forward for the regular training of their staff.
