District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan has taken a stern stance regarding instances where complaints lodged on the Chief Minister’s helpline were ‘force-closed’ on paper without actual resolution. On Monday, the DM conducted on-site inspections of Chakrata Road, Shimla Bypass, and GMS Road to assess the ground reality.
The department had marked a complaint filed by Pooja Bhatgain regarding the dilapidated condition of the Shimla Bypass as ‘resolved’ and closed it on the portal. The DM called the complainant directly from the site to verify the facts and instructed officials to immediately commence restoration work. He reprimanded the Public Works Department (PWD) upon finding potholes in the Mehuwala area and ordered the issuance of notices to the concerned ADB officials for carrying out excavation work during the day without authorization.
The DM issued strict instructions ensuring that all roads in the district be made pothole-free by October 15; he warned that severe legal action would be taken in cases of negligence or unauthorized work.
