State Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi formally laid the foundation stone for the construction of an RCC drain and slab in Brijlok Colony, located in Salawala (Ward 8) within the Mussoorie Assembly constituency. A notable highlight of the event was that, in adherence to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for environmental conservation, Minister Joshi arrived at the venue on an electric scooter, where he received a rousing welcome from local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Joshi stated that the state government remains committed to resolving the fundamental issues faced by the public. Given the problem of waterlogging during the monsoon season, priority has been accorded to this drain project, which is expected to significantly improve drainage and ease of movement in the area. He further informed that, under the Chief Minister’s announcements, the approval process for the reconstruction of the remaining section of the drain—within the same colony and at an estimated cost of ₹441 lakhs—is currently underway. Strict directives have been issued to officials to ensure that special attention is paid to both the quality of construction and adherence to the stipulated timelines.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal highlighted the various public welfare works being undertaken by the Municipal Corporation on a priority basis. Meanwhile, local Councilor Bhupendra Kathait expressed his gratitude for the approval of these development projects. The event was attended by hundreds of local residents, along with Municipal Corporation officials including Executive Engineer Rajit Kothiyal, D.P. Bahuguna, and Ravi Verma.
