Haridwar: Uttarakhand Police has caught a criminal who was not only cheating devotees in the guise of a sadhu, but was also evading the police. According to the police, the accused they have arrested is accused of raping a minor girl. A case has also been registered against the accused. To escape the police, the accused was wearing another disguise in Uttarakhand.
The police said that Operation Kalanemi was started before the Kanwar fair on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Under Operation Kalanemi, such people are being arrested, who cheat people by disguising themselves as sadhus and saints at religious or other places. The police is searching and arresting such people.
On Thursday also, Haridwar Police was checking in Chandighat area under Operation Kalanemi, when their eyes fell on a person dressed as Lord Shiva. The police found that person suspicious. When the police questioned the man, he introduced himself as Deepak Saini, resident of Subhash Nagar Jwalapur. The accused also told the police that he assures girls and women that their wishes will be fulfilled by giving them blessings and prasad of Lord Shiva.
According to the police, when they investigated the matter in more detail, they found out that the person named Deepak Saini who has come under their custody has a case registered against him under the POCSO Act in Shyampur police station from Haridwar itself. Deepak Saini has been accused of raping a minor girl by luring her and giving false temptations. After this, the police took the accused Deepak Saini into custody and reached Shyampur police station.
The police said that the accused Deepak Saini, calling himself a supreme knowledgeable and a devotee of Lord Shiva, used to lure innocent women and small girls and feed them prasad and do wrong things with them. The police is also searching for other women and girls who became victims of the accused, so that the fake baba can be given the harshest punishment.
Police said that accused Deepak Saini is also accused of beating his wife, abusing her and harassing her for dowry. This case is registered in Mandi police station of Saharanpur district of UP. Giving information along with this, Haridwar SSP Pramod Doval said that till now more than two and a half thousand such people have been verified in Haridwar. Action has been taken against about 250 accused.
