Roorkee: There was chaos in Roorkee of Haridwar district when a wedding procession from Saharanpur reached a banquet hall here. Actually, some youths in the wedding procession from Saharanpur to Roorkee got into a dispute with the local youths. In the dispute, one party fired a bullet, due to which a local youth was seriously injured. There was chaos as soon as the bullet was fired in the wedding ceremony. The police, who arrived on the information, dispersed the crowd by hitting them with sticks. The injured youth was sent to the hospital for treatment, from where, seeing his serious condition, the doctors referred him to a higher center. At present, the police is busy investigating the whole matter.
The two daughters of a person from Padli Gurjar village were getting married in a banquet hall in Ganganahar Kotwali area. It is being told that one wedding procession was from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and another from Saharanpur district, during this time a dispute broke out between two groups of youths and a youth from Saharanpur took out a pistol and pointed it at the other. When the youth ran to save his life, he was shot from behind. The bullet hit 25-year-old Mohammad Faiz, resident of Green Park Colony, the injured youth was admitted to Roorkee Civil Hospital for treatment, from where he was referred to a higher center. After the incident, the youth from Saharanpur fled from the spot.
It is told that a month ago Faiz (25 years) and others had gone to a wedding ceremony organized in Saharanpur, during this time Faiz and his fellow youths had an altercation with some youths of Kota Mahi village of Saharanpur district over some matter, after which there was a fierce fight between the two groups. At that time the matter was somehow settled, but yesterday there was a wedding in a banquet hall in Roorkee, in which the youth of Kota Mahi village of Saharanpur district had also come. Faiz’s side came to know about this, and as soon as the youth of Kota Mahi came out of the banquet hall, people from Faiz’s side also reached there as soon as they got the chance.
After which both the sides clashed with each other and a fight started, in the midst of this fight, people from Saharanpur side fired a bullet which hit Faiz near his arm at the back. As soon as Faiz was covered in blood, there was chaos in the wedding ceremony. On the other hand, when a crowd of people reached the spot after hearing the sound of the bullet, there was a jam on the highway. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and the crowd was removed by lathi charge. After which the police admitted the injured youth to the Civil Hospital in Roorkee for treatment, from where the doctors referred the injured to a higher center. Ganganahar Kotwali in-charge Inspector RK Saklani said that the matter is being investigated. The accused are also being searched.
