Rudraprayag: The Kedarnath Yatra, which was closed for the last three days, has been resumed. However, the highway between Sonprayag-Gaurikund has not been repaired yet. Despite this, the district administration removed the temporary ban on the Yatra and sent the pilgrims to Kedarnath Dham. The devotees have to cover a distance of 22 km along with covering an additional 6 km.
Let us tell you that on Tuesday late evening, the highway between Sonprayag-Gaurikund on the Kedarnath Yatra route collapsed. About 150 meters of the highway collapsed here, after which the administration had to stop the Yatra. In such a situation, no pilgrim was sent to Kedarnath from Sonprayag, so the pilgrims returning from Kedarnath Dham were rescued by the SDRF, NDRF and police team. The highway between Sonprayag-Gaurikund on the Kedarnath Yatra route is sinking, while landslides are continuing on the footpath near Munkatiya. After the NH department made the highway suitable for pedestrian movement, the yatra which was closed last Wednesday has been resumed today on Saturday. After which the pilgrims have heaved a sigh of relief.
Superintendent of Police Akshay Konde informed that till the movement of vehicles resumes at the damaged site, the devotees will have to travel about 22 km on foot to Kedarnath Dham. In case of rain, the movement will be temporarily stopped here in view of the safety of the pilgrims. Also, the pilgrims have been appealed to travel according to the weather forecast. The work of widening the road is going on continuously at the level of the concerned working agency Public Works Department. It was told that the highway has become suitable for walking to some extent, due to which groups of pilgrims from Sonprayag are being sent to Kedarnath via Gaurikund. It was told that rain is continuously continuing in Kedar Valley.
It is worth noting that intermittent rains are continuing in Uttarakhand. This has increased the problems of the people. At the same time, heavy rains are also affecting the Chardham Yatra. The Chardham Yatra route is constantly being disrupted due to landslides. Due to which the passengers are being stopped at the halts and sent forward after repairing the route. A similar picture is constantly emerging from Kedarghati, where the Kedarnath walking route is constantly being disrupted due to heavy rains. Due to the obstruction of the walking route, the passengers are facing a lot of difficulties.
