Dehradun:-When locals tried to stop Punjab tourists who came to visit the city for chasing local girls, the locals attacked them with sharp weapons. Three persons were injured in the incident. Police have arrested two tourists involved in the incident and two other tourists involved in the incident managed to flee from the spot. A case has been registered against the tourists in Kotwali under various sections.
Inspector-in-charge Santosh Kunwar said that Ashish Panwar Bira village Tehri Garhwal has given a written complaint in Kotwali. It said that four tourists were chasing local girls near the campty taxi stand, when the tourists were stopped, they fought and beat up the locals. Kotwal said that on the basis of the complaint letter, a case has been registered against the accused in Kotwali and other cases, including assault with various sharp weapons. Two accused involved in the incident have been immediately arrested by the police with the help of locals. Efforts are being made to arrest the two accused.
He said that Karan and Manish Kumar, residents of Sakud Jalandhar Punjab, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Also, Prince and Shubham have absconded, efforts are being made to arrest them. Kotwal said that the four youths had come from Punjab to Mussoorie and were chasing local girls on Campty Road. There has been an incident of assault in this case. A case has been registered under the IPC.
The complainant Ashish Panwar said that his sister was going home from school with her friends. During this time, some tourists on Campty Road followed him and started making false gestures at him. When the tourists were stopped, a tourist scuffled with his companion. When he tried to stop them again, one of the four tourists attacked his three other companions with a sharp knife. His friends were seriously injured. The accused tourists fled the spot and were caught by the police at the library chowk.
Bachchan Singh, Ankit and Rakesh were injured in the incident. They have demanded strict action against the four accused tourists. A written complaint has been filed in Kotwali in this regard. Mussoorie Taxi Association Secretary Rakesh Kotal said that he will not tolerate the incident of assaulting a member of his association. He said that such an incident has happened in the past also, the police should take strict action in this matter. The accused in the incident are being taken by the police in the car and those who have a knife are walking. If strict action is not taken against the accused, the association will strongly protest.
